Entry Requirement

Before travelling to Cambodia, it’s a good idea to check the entry requirements to ensure a seamless journey from start to finish. Knowing what’s needed for your passport, visa, and health requirements means you can arrive prepared and focus on enjoying your trip.

Passport Requirements

To enter Cambodia, your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date you plan to leave the country. It also needs at least 1 blank page for the entry and exit stamps. Double-check these details before travelling to avoid any issues at the border.

Visa Requirements
  • Most travellers need a visa to enter Cambodia. You can apply for one online through the official Cambodian government website before you travel, or obtain it on arrival at international airports and selected border checkpoints.

  • A tourist visa typically permits a single entry and allows you to stay in Cambodia for up to 30 days. As visa requirements can change, it’s best to confirm the latest requirements with the nearest Cambodian embassy or through the official government website before finalising your travel plans.

Visa-Exempt Countries
  • Citizens of certain Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, can visit Cambodia without a visa for short stays of 14 to 30 days, depending on nationality.

  • It’s best to double-check your eligibility before you travel, as entry rules can change.

Travel Insurance
  • Although it is not required, travellers are strongly encouraged to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation, medical costs, and treatment related to COVID-19.

  • Having trustworthy insurance provides comfort while travelling.

Evidence of Onward or Return Travel Tickets
  • To confirm that visitors intend to leave within the authorised time of stay, they may be required to show evidence of onward or return tickets upon arrival.

  • It is advised that you keep a copy of your flight confirmation, either digital or printed.

Health and Vaccination Guidelines
  • There are currently no specific vaccination requirements for entry into Cambodia.

  • However, it is recommended to maintain regular vaccinations against tetanus, typhoid, and hepatitis A.

  • Especially in rural or forested areas, travellers should apply mosquito repellent, drink plenty of water, and take standard health precautions.

Rules for Customs
  • Travellers are allowed to enter Cambodia with reasonable amounts of foreign currency, personal belongings, and a minimal quantity of alcohol or tobacco.

  • Weapons, narcotics, and cultural artefacts are among the prohibited or restricted items that need to be declared at the time of arrival.

  • Failing to declare such items could lead to detention or fines.

Documentation to Prepare

Having every necessary document at one's fingertips to prevent delays at immigration:

  • A current passport

  • Visa for entry (if applicable)

  • Evidence of onward or return ticket

  • Although not mandatory, having travel insurance is strongly advised.

  • Some airlines or transit countries may require proof of certain vaccinations or health documents before you travel.

Being well-prepared ensures a smooth and hassle-free arrival in Cambodia, allowing you to enjoy the country’s lively culture, fascinating history, and astounding scenery.
